What sets one highball apart from another

The material decides where it can go; the pattern decides the table:

Acrylic. Pool, terrace and a table with children, where glass is not a good idea.
Glass. The everyday of the house: it takes the dishwasher and replacement, and it is where most of the colour lives.
Crystal. Thin walls and a heavy base, for a built bar and a set dinner.
Relief or prism. The pattern scatters the light and hides fingerprints — the flaw of a plain tall glass.
Coloured. It helps everyone recognise their own glass when the house is full.
Capacity. A highball has to take ice and drink together; too small and you refill constantly.
