What sets one jar apart from another

The foot and the lid decide how the piece reads:

• Footed. It gains height on the table and turns the sweets into a centrepiece — the classical reading of the piece.
• Flat. More discreet and more stable, for a counter or a work surface.
• Borosilicate glass. It goes from the fridge to the table without cracking, which widens the use beyond dry sweets.
• Crystal. Thinner walls and more brilliance, for a set table and a living room console.
• The lid. It is what separates a candy jar from a bowl: it protects from the air and keeps the sweets longer.
• Size. A large piece half full looks empty; choose by what the house actually eats.
