Cast Iron Cookware

The weight is what makes the pan work

Enamelled cast iron is the piece that defined Le Creuset: it heats slowly, spreads the heat evenly and holds the temperature after the flame is off. It is the pan for long stews, for sauce and for bread — and the one that reaches the table without changing vessel.

What sets one piece apart from another

Shape and capacity decide the cooking:

  • Round cocotte. The most versatile shape: stews, braises, rice and sourdough bread.
  • Oval cocotte. It follows a whole roast or a bird, with less wasted corner.
  • Low braiser. A wide mouth that evaporates and reduces sauce faster.
  • Heavy lid. It seals the steam in and is what makes slow cooking happen.
  • Enamel. The colour belongs to the piece and does not chip, which is why it reaches the table without apology.
  • Capacity. Choosing by the number of people avoids the pan that only leaves the cupboard at Christmas.

Need help choosing?

Cast iron is heavy, and full it is much heavier — worth thinking about who lifts it from the hob to the table. Confirm induction use too. Message us on WhatsApp and we will check it with you, then follow the order through to delivery.
