The Shang line features a pond motif: open lotus flowers, buds, broad leaves and fine stems in shades of blue over a white ground. The composition leaves areas of white between the plants, and the blue ranges from light to dark on petals and leaves, giving depth to the scene.

Blue lines outline the piece near the rim and near the base. The rim is wide, flared outward, and has its own blue band that appears when the cachepot is viewed from above.

Because it is hand-painted, the linework and placement of the motifs vary slightly from one piece to another.

At 40 kg when empty, position the cachepot in its final place before adding the plant. To move it, two people should lift from the base, not from the rim.

Clean with a soft cloth, dry or slightly damp. Avoid abrasive products and rough sponges, which can scratch the painting. Porcelain is hard but not impact-resistant: protect the piece from knocks when moving furniture nearby.

Use a saucer under the plant’s pot so watering does not accumulate at the bottom of the cachepot. On wood floors, a felt pad under the base protects the surface.
