What sets one bucket apart from another

The wall and the lid decide how long the ice lasts:

• Stainless steel. It conducts less heat from outside in and keeps ice longer than glass or acrylic.
• With a lid. It cuts the heat exchange with the room — the difference between ice lasting an hour and lasting three.
• With tongs. The pair that keeps hands out of the ice; worth checking whether they are included.
• With a drain or false bottom. It separates the ice from the melt and keeps the cubes dry.
• Silver plating. The classical reading for a bar cart set with crystal.
• Ceramic and fibre. For when the bucket is a table object and not only a bar tool.
