What sets one piece apart from another

The foot and the diameter decide the service:

  • Footed cake stand. It takes the spotlight and frees the space beneath, on a full table.
  • Fruit bowl. It stays on the table between meals — worth choosing for how it looks empty.
  • With glass. The glass plate takes the cake and the steel gives structure, making washing easier.
  • Diameter. It has to be larger than the cake, with clearance for the server to get under it.
