What sets one mill apart from another

The mechanism and the adjustment do the work:

  • Ceramic mechanism. It does not rust or transfer taste — what allows grinding salt with safety.
  • Grind adjustment. Fine powder to coarse grain in the same piece.
  • In sets. Salt and pepper with the same design in different colours, so they are not swapped.
  • Height. The tall one is a table piece; the short one lives on the counter beside the hob.
  • ABS body. Light, resistant to a fall and in the same colours as the pans.
  • Refilling. A wide opening is what stops salt spilling across the counter every time.
