What sets one piece apart from another

Height decides the conversation; the design decides the weight on the table:

Open-work centrepiece. A pattern that lightens the volume and lets the cloth show — round for a square table, oval for a long one.
Cheese board. Stone, glass and metal in one piece: it serves and decorates, from counter to table without a change.
