Once the plates are down, it is the stemware that sets the tone: clear to let the food speak, coloured to become the subject of the dinner. Our selection is in glass and crystal, plain, fluted, faceted and in relief, from our own lines and from Lodz — and it is the category that leaves this house most often.

What sets one glass apart from another

Glass and crystal are not the same thing, and colour changes the role the piece plays:

Crystal. Thinner walls, more brilliance and a longer ring when you toast. This is the glass for a dinner you plan. Worth seeing the Lodz lines, cut at the bowl and faceted vertically.
Glass. More forgiving of daily use without giving up the design. This is where the colour lives.
Coloured. Pink, lilac, blue, green and smoke. A white table changes completely with the stemware alone — and you can mix colours across the setting, one per place.
Fluted and faceted. The relief catches candlelight and chandelier light, and it is what makes the piece show up in a photograph of the table.
Acrylic. For the terrace, the pool and any table with children around it, where glass is not a good idea.
By drink. Wine, water, sparkling and cocktails call for different bowls and stems — and that is what separates a set table from an improvised one.
